Spring Brass Band Festival - The Senior Trophy 2018
The band led by MD, Richard Ward, was awarded 3rd place which
promotes the band into Grand Shield contest for 2019. The band
played 'A Kensington Concerto' by Eric Ball, and showed off its
adaptability in creating a warm traditional style, with fabulous a
cornet solo from principal Cliff Pask.

resounding success on stage and in the BBC
recording studio with this indy band.
Chris Bearman - Musical Director
Since taking on the role of Resident Conductor in May 2018 Chris lead
the band on our concerts, and most recently in January 2020 took on
the challenging task to lead the band at the Butlins Mineworkers Contest
held at Skegness. The band were awarded 3rd place overall and gained
many plaudits for the sound and presentation at this tough contest.
In 2021-22 the band is pleased to announce that Chris is to lead the
band as musical director.
BBC Concert Orchestra
The band support our friends at the BBC with a short
concert to 'warm up' the audience before the BBC
Concert Orchestra's family orchestral favourites
concert. Held at the Magnificent Redbridge Town

The BBC Concert Orchestra with Principal
Conductor Bramwell Tovey celebrated the success
of music education in Redbridge through a well
funded service. Redbridge Brass are a living legacy
of this policy.

3rd Place at the - London & Southern
Counties Area Contest 2019
Another podium finish for the band and Dr David Thornton (MD
at Grimethorpe Colliery), leading the band at this contest with
the fine composition 'Seascapes' by Ray Steadman-Allen. The
band enjoyed working with David who gave insight in to the
preparation and focus to contests from his many years as a
player and MD of a top flight brass band.
Seascapes was the Test Piece for the 1988 National Finals at
the Royal Albert Hall and was the first time Redbridge Brass
qualified the finals conducted then by Graham Chambers. The
band still has four players who were in the band all those years
Festival of Wind and Brass - April 2019
The splendid Pamoja Hall at Sevenoaks School in Kent was the
venue for a spectacular concert lead by MD Jonathan Crowhurst.
The band took the stage for the second half of the concert that
included a performance of 'Seascapes' by Ray Steadman-Allen
which was the Test Piece for the 1988 National Finals at the Royal
Albert Hall and was the first time Redbridge Brass qualified the finals
conducted then by Graham Chambers. The band still has four
players who were in the band all those years ago!
The concert also featured the Maidstone Wind Symphony, and
special guest soloist Matilda Lloyd.

3rd place at the Mineworkers Open
National Brass Band Festival, Butlins,
Skegness January 2020
One of the top brass band contests running today in the
UK, with a set test piece Songs of Ascent (by Jonathan
Bates) and an Entertainment programme featuring soloist
Cliff Pask (pictured) playing the beautiful cornet solo, Share
My Yolk (by Joy Webb).
Competing under the baton of Chris Bearman for the first
time the band achieved 3rd place overall, a fantastic result.
Moonlight and Romance - Feb 2020
A fantastic concert programme included Beethoven’s iconic Moonlight Sonata and Debussy’s Clair de Lune
played by guest soloist, concert pianist and teacher David Silkoff.
David demonstrated his mastery on the piano creating beautiful cascades of sound, a rare opportunity to
hear these works performed in such style.
Talented violinist Chris Karwacinski, who also plays tuba for the band, showed his fine musicianship with
Massenet's Meditation and a splendid Tango by Gardel accompanied by the band. With music from Rimsky
Korsacov’s Scheherzade, Wagner’s romantic opera Lohengrin and the beautiful Girl with the Flaxen Hair plus
more contemporary music like Michael Buble's Cry Me a River featuring Dave Wallace on trombone.
7th place at the Online Whit
Friday Contest 5th June 2020
The band entered the informal Online Whit
Friday contest organised by Fodens band
and was broadcast on their YouTube
channel along with the other 88 entries.
The players each recorded their parts from
home and was later reassembled into the
complete performance by Chris Wilcox with
the video work by Tim Sullivan.

The band is very proud to have been invited to
the prestigious 44th Brass In Concert contest to
be held at the Sage in Newcastle on 20th

2022 Butlins Mineworkers contest
We are hoping that the restart of contests continues in 2022 kicking off with this hugely popular
two-part contest, the set-piece and the entertainment programme.
Held at Butlins Holiday Park, Skegness on 8th and 9th January 2022, the band is hoping to
achieve another podium placing.
11th December 2021 3pm, 5pm, 7pm
St Gabriels Church, Wanstead
He's back ! After 3 sell out years plus a 2 year gap we will be showing the film again with the rich sound of
the band providing the complete live sound track. Suitable for all ages including big kids too, for a lovely
family experience to start the festive season.
Johnathan Crowhurst conducts the band for these magical performances.
